Mary Bush (Haskell) Sargent
Mary Bush Sargent 1923 - 2011 WILMINGTON, DE - Mary Haskell Bush Sargent, 87, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Naples, FL; Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA passed away peacefully on April 26, 2011. Born in Springfield to the late William and Esther Haskell, she was a graduate of Emma Willard School and attended Wheaton College. Primarily a loving mother, wife, grandmother and especially great-grandmother, Mary had worked for H & R Block for many years. She was a longtime member and volunteer with the Junior League of Hartford, particularly involved at the American School for the Deaf. A member of the Blandford, MA Country Club and the Wyndemere Golf & Country Club, Naples, FL, Mary was an avid bridge player and lifelong golf and tennis player; in fact, Mary and her two sisters learned golf, tennis and trout fishing from their father. She had been active until very recently and was thrilled to have been able to play some golf and tennis with her great-grandsons. Mary was proud to be a longtime supporter of the Class of '44, Dartmouth College, from which her first husband graduated. Mary was the great-great-granddaug-hter of Daniel B. Wesson. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Hap Bush and Everett Sargent; and two sisters, Susan Haskell Lefferts and Joanne Haskell Ball. Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, H. Charles and Merry Bush of Southington, CT and Merry's children Michael, Matthew and Jonathan Kelleher; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Bush Hickok and Dr. Robert Hickok of Wilmington, DE and their daughters, Wendy Hickok Robinson of New Orleans, LA and Elizabeth P. Hickok and her partner, Kerry Rodden of San Francisco, CA; her step-son, Francis Sargent of Cary, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Walker E. Robinson, Gardner E. Robinson and Amelia E. Robinson. Funeral services will be private. The family suggests honoring the memory of Mary Bush Sargent by sending a contribution to the Blandford Historical Society, North St., Blandford, MA 01008 or the American Cancer Society , 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
