ABBEVILLE -- Melvin Haskell Sr., 69, of 1803 Secession Ave. Extension, husband of Louise Brown Haskell (for fifty years) of the home, son of the late Joel Haskell and Sallie Haskell, died Oct. 18, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, SC. He attended J.S. Wright High School; was a member of St. Paul Church of God Holiness; and retired from Fovil Manufacturing Co.
Survivors: three sons, Marvin Haskell of Greenwood, SC, Melvin Haskell Jr. of Hodges, SC, and Todd Haskell of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Mary Haskell of the home and Barbara Haskell of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Carrie Smith of Greenwood, SC and Christine William Salter of Buffalo, NY; In-laws Bobby and Hattie Brown of Abbeville, SC, Walter and Eunice Campbell of Brooklyn, NY, and James Brown of Brooklyn NY; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Elijah and Larry Haskell; four brothers, William, Elliot, Earl and Joel Haskell Jr.; six sisters, Daisy, Sallie Mae and Sara Haskell, Mildred H. Lyons, Virginia H. Gray and Mamie H. Martin.
Viewing is 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Richie Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at St. Paul Church of God Holiness, Abbeville, with Elder Cater Peek officiating. The Body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
