Evellyn V. Haskell, 84, of 1513 W. Third St., Jamestown, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Jamestown, the daughter of Ross G. and Belle E. Crouch Langworthy.
She was the widow of DeForest D. Haskell, whom she married May 27, 1932, and who died April 1, 1969.
She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she was active in Mothers of Preschoolers, Home Builders, Hillcresters, and was the coordinator for the Women's Prayer Chain. She was a member of the Women's Christian Club and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She is survived by a daughter, Belle A. Delahoy of Bemus Point; two sons: DeWayne D. Haskell of Jamestown and Frank M. Haskell of Doniphan, MO.; 12 grandchildren: Evelyn Brackman and Lloyd Delahoy, both of Hickory, NC., Deborah McCarty of Cheswick, PA., Richard K. Delahoy, Timothy L. and Christopher L. Haskell, all of Jamestown, Larry W. Haskell of St. Marys, IN., Susan J. Rowley of Frewsburg, George and Frank Haskell and Linda Blankenship, all of Weatherford, Texas, and DeForest Haskell of Norman, Okla.; 27 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Allen Haskell; two sisters: Beulah Carlson and Gertrude Abers; and two brothers: William and Frank Langworthy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry McCann, pastor, and the Rev. Thayne Boodenmiller, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Westfield, will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
