Elaine Berry Haskell, 89, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Cotillion Ridge, Robinson, Illinois. Born in Newport News, Virginia on June 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Douglas Patrick Berry and Myrtie (Fuqua) Berry. She was employed as a telephone operator / supervisor, Chevy Chase, Maryland and a homemaker after moving to Oblong, Illinois. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Oblong, Illinois where she was the founder of the Tuesday evening Bible Study Group presiding over the group for several years; BPW “Woman of the Year” award - 1958; Sunday School teacher and long time member of the church choir. Elaine enjoyed cooking and reading.
On September 4, 1943, she married George “Lin” Haskell, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Ruth Vreeland.
Elaine is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joeann Haskell-Rushing and Doug Rushing; one grandson, Steven Rushing; one brother and sister-in-law, Douglas P. & Isabella Berry; one sister, Emma Berry; one sister-in-law, Norma & Jim Williams and several nieces and nephews
