Dorothy Manners Haskell (entertainment columnist, age 95)
Publication: Variety
Date: Monday, September 7 1998
Dorothy Manners Haskell, a columnist who chronicled the lives of Hollywood celebrities, died Aug. 24 at her Palm Springs, Calif., home. She was 95.
Haskell began her career in entertainment as an extra in Cecil B. DeMille films. She eventually signed a contract with Fox Studios and starred in such films as "Snowdrift." After appearing in Universal's "Two Bells for Pegasus," Haskell decided to leave acting to become a writer.
Shortly after a stint at the Hollywood Citizen, Haskell wrote features in the entertainment section of the Los Angeles Times.
