Arthur Walter Haskell Jr. (1942 - 2011)
Sandisfield, Mass., - Arthur Walter Haskell, Jr., 68, of Sandisfield Road, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Hartford Hospital, following a short illness. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Buda) Haskell who died in 2008. Born in Winsted, Dec. 23, 1942, son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Parrott) Haskell, he had lived in this area most of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a machine operator for Howmet Corp. for 20 years. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam era and also did Army Reserve time. He was a member of Tuttle Burns Post American Legion and VFW Post #296.
His survivors include two sons, Arthur Haskell III of Danbury and Alfred Brassard of Sheffield, Mass.; two daughters, Lynn Perkinson of California and Dawn Margraf of Sandisfield; one brother, John Haskell of Burlington; four sisters, Elma Wojna of New Hartford, Madeline Driscoll of Farmington, Joanne Collins of Bristol, Helen Haskell of Torrington; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Ashner and Shirley Cristowski.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, at noon at the VFW Post 296, Colebrook River Road, Winsted, with their Chaplin Rev. David McGee officiating. There will be a gathering at Tucker's Pub to follow on Route #8 in Sandisfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #296 in Art's memory.
