Rosalys Haskell Hall 1914-2006
PORTSMOUTH - Rosalys Haskell Hall, age 92, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Aquidneck Place in Portsmouth, RI.

Miss Hall was seven times descended from Roger Williams and the great-grand niece of Maud Howe Elliott.

She was the fourth generation to write books beginning with Julia Ward Howe, author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". She was the published author of seventeen children's books. She was for twenty-five years associate junior editor under Bertha L. Gunterman at Longmans Green.
She had a house on Coddington Street in Newport and was well known for her collection of dogs many from the Potter League as well as the dog of Sumner 'Clarkie" Clark when he could take care of it no longer. She was a member of the Point Association and for many years assisted with the annual plant sale. She was a member of the Redwood Library and was for some time a Director.

She is survived by a niece, Mrs. William Virgin of Columbus, Ohio and a nephew, Douglas Penn Stickley, of Jamestown, RI.

Ralph Padula assisted Miss Hall for many years and is in charge of private arrangements.

There will be a Memorial Reception at the Art Association at a later date.
